Changes to Report Card Comments 2024 -25
On Monday, January 27, Report Cards will be available to parents to view in PowerSchool. This year, report card comments will follow a new format to ensure clarity, conciseness, and consistency when communicating student progress. Comments will now be presented in bullet points, highlighting:
- 2-3 areas of strength
- 1-2 areas for growth
This structured approach makes it easier for families to understand their child's progress and next steps in learning.
An example of the NEW comment format for Math may look like :
Area(s) of Strength: Betty has demonstrated a developing understanding of patterns. This was shown during our community walk where Sally was able to recognize examples of growing patterns on a tree stump. Betty has demonstrated a well-developed understanding of geometric attributes. This was evident when they turned and flipped the position of a 2-D shape which resulted in the creation of a piece of art.
Area(s) for Growth: Betty continues to develop an understanding of place value. A next step in learning is to represent numbers in a variety of ways, such as through base ten blocks, which will help in understanding addition and subtraction. Additional information on Betty’s understanding and application of concepts related to addition and subtraction are available in the Individual Program Plan (IPP). Betty’s learning has been scaffolded and modified. Please refer to the IPP for further information on progress and next steps.

What Do School Lunch Fees Cover at MidSun School?
We have received some questions in our main office about whether all parents are required to pay lunch fees and how these fees are used to support lunch activities for students.
At the October 2024 School Council meeting, we shared details about how lunch fees are allocated. These fees help cover the cost of items used during the lunch hour, such as band-aids, ice packs, lunchroom tables, sports equipment, club supplies, and more.
