Grade 9 Farewell – Dress Code & Event Details

We are looking forward to celebrating our Grade 9 students as they prepare to transition to high school! The Grade 9 Farewell is a special occasion to recognize their growth, achievements, and the end of their junior high journey.

As a reminder, this is a school-based celebration and not a formal graduation, so we ask that students dress in smart, semi-formal attire—similar to what they might wear to a holiday gathering or a special family event. There is no need for formal gowns, suits, or tuxedos. Our goal is for all students to feel comfortable, included, and able to enjoy this memorable event with their peers.

We look forward to creating a meaningful send-off for our amazing Grade 9 students!

Event Details:
📅 Date: Tuesday, June 24
⏰ Time: 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
📍 Location: MidSun School Gymnasium

  •  Grade 9 students should arrive by 9:30 a.m. and go directly to their homerooms for attendance and final preparations.
  • Doors will open for family seating at 9:30 a.m.

This special morning will include student reflections, presentations, and a chance to celebrate this important milestone together. Due to limited seating capacity in our gym, we kindly ask that only immediate family members attend (parents, guardians, siblings, grandparents or close caregivers).

If your child is in Grade 7 or 8 and you are attending the event as a family, they are welcome to join you for the celebration.

We are looking for a few parent volunteers to assist with decorations and setup. If you're interested in helping, please email the principal at chkushniruk@cbe.ab.ca

Provincial Achievement Tests (PATs) May/June 2025

In May and June of this year, Grade 9 students across the province will participate in the Provincial Achievement Tests (PATs). Results from these tests will provide Alberta Education, school administrators, teachers, parents/guardians, students, and the public with information about what students know and can do in relation to provincial standards at the end of Grade 9. These results can be used to improve learning opportunities for students and inform our School Development Plans for 2024-27
