A big thank you to all our families and community members who supported the MidSun 50/50 fundraiser! Thanks to your generosity, we sold 3,899 tickets, raising a total jackpot of $4,905.

Spring Carnival - Monday - June 2, 2025
The Leadership classes at MidSun School have been preparing for our traditional Spring Carnival. The theme for this year's carnival is: MidSun's Multiverse of Madness! This is a school wide event that will be focusing on raising money for this year's charity winner: The Children's Grief Centre.
The gymnasium has been transformed into a fun-filled day of games and activities for students to play. Students will need to either purchase a wristband for $10 or some individual tickets. A wristband allows for unlimited play. Students will have the chance to win draw tickets, and these draw tickets will be entered for a chance to win prizes. In past carnivals some of the amazing prizes were: Air Pods; a Bluetooth speaker; Chinook Mall gift card; Amazon gift card etc. Prizes will be similar again this year and announced once they have been purchased.

Our MidSun clothing store will be live June 2 till July 2, 2025. Hoodies, sweatshirts, T-shirts, sweatpants, and beanies!! The online store closes firmly on July 2nd, and then students will receive their orders within the first 2 weeks of school. It is recommended that you purchase a size bigger than you regularly would. Students grow like weeds during the summer, and your orders are non-refundable and there are no exchanges. Ordering adult sizes will make the clothing last longer!

Wellness Day at MidSun – A Wonderful Success!
We’re thrilled to share that our Wellness Day event on Friday, May 30 was a tremendous success! Students participated in two engaging and meaningful sessions that promoted health, well-being, and personal growth. From mindfulness and movement to creativity and connection, the day was filled with positive energy and valuable experiences.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to our dedicated MidSun teachers for organizing and leading this special event. Their efforts helped create a supportive and enriching environment for all students.
We were also honoured to welcome Ryan Straschnitzki as our keynote speaker. Paralyzed from the chest down in the 2018 Humboldt Broncos bus tragedy, Ryan shared his inspiring story of resilience, perseverance, and hope. His journey toward competing in the 2028 Paralympics left a lasting impact on our students and staff alike.

Grade 9 PAT Early Dismissal Option – Parent Permission Required
As Provincial Achievement Tests (PATs) approach, we want to remind families that these are full instructional days. Students are expected to attend the afternoon sessions, which include tutorials and continued learning.
That said, if you would like your child to be dismissed early following their PAT exam, a Google Form will be sent home this week to collect your permission in advance. Please note:
- Students may not leave before 12:13 p.m. on PAT exam days.
- Early dismissals will only be granted through the permission form—no phone calls or texts will be accepted on these days. Lists of student permssion will be printed at 8 am in our main office
- Students leaving early must go directly home.
- All students must still arrive by 9:10 a.m. on PAT exam days.
Thank you for helping us maintain a smooth and focused environment during testing.
Grade 9 Farewell – Save the Date!
We are excited to welcome families to our Grade 9 Farewell Celebration as we honour and celebrate our students' transition to high school!

Provincial Achievement Tests (PATs) May/June 2025
In May and June of this year, Grade 9 students across the province will participate in the Provincial Achievement Tests (PATs). Results from these tests will provide Alberta Education, school administrators, teachers, parents/guardians, students, and the public with information about what students know and can do in relation to provincial standards at the end of Grade 9. These results can be used to improve learning opportunities for students and inform our School Development Plans for 2024-27

Absent or Leaving Early? Please email midsun@cbe.ab.ca to let us know if your child will be away, late, or needs to leave early for any reason.
Staying for Lunch? Delivery Food Orders for students such as “Skip the Dishes, Door Dash, etc.” are not permitted at MidSun. Please do not send these orders to the school. Our main office will not accept delivery.
Please note that students need to provide their own utensils at lunch, as the school does not have a budget for this.
Athletic Teams

Athletics
The track and field team tryouts start next week after school. If your student wants to try and get a faster time, a higher jump or a longer throw they can attend any practices they like. Practices start at 3:50pm, and go till whenever each student is done. The latest finish time would be at 5:00 pm. They can attend multiple events each day if they choose. Your student will be informed the first week of June if they made the track team and will be invited to attend the track meet at foothills athletic park all day on Wednesday June 11th.
