ATHLETICS
If your has child participated in any MidSun school athletic teams this year, please take a moment and check your myCBE account to make sure all fees are paid for the 2023-2024 school. Thank you to all parents for your continued support of our athletics program!
LEARNING COMMONS – Time to return Library Books!
We are now collecting all library books. Books and textbooks are now due. Overdue lists have been sent to teachers on a regular basis this month. Please check around your home for any school books that you may have. School Books not returned will have the full cost of the book added to the student’s PowerSchool Account.
Thank you for helping to keep our book collection ready to use for next year.
LOST & FOUND - Last chance JUNE 27th
Our lost and found items will be held at the school until June 27th. After that date, any items left behind will be donated to goodwill. We have many sweatshirts and water bottles that have been left behind over the semester.
MIDSUN SCHOOL APPAREL
Are you looking to purchase some MidSun apparel? Our on-line store is now open and ready for your orders. Clothing can be purchased until June 30, 2024, after that the store is closed, so don’t forget!!!! Because the orders are custom made, there are no refunds or exchanges. In the past we have had a few disappointed students because the clothing ordered was too small for them. Unless your student is smaller in stature, I urge you to order adult sizes. They grow like weeds, and I’m sure you would like the clothing to fit for a few years.
Orders will be delivered to the school during the first week of September, barring any supply chain problems.

- clothing for folding (socks, t-shirts, pants, shorts, dish towels, cloth napkins, towels)
- plastic cups, plates, bowls (sturdy ones that we could wash in the sink but not breakable)
- plastic containers with a screw top lid to practice opening containers
- comforter set with a fitted sheet, flat sheet, comforter, and pillow cases to practice folding
- games and puzzles (up to 50 pieces)
- building-type games
If you have any of these items that you are willing to donate to our programs, please email Jen Laughy at jclaughy@cbe.ab.ca. Thank you!

GSA
GSA meetings are finished for this year. We will start up again in the Fall.
What is a GSA?
Gay Straight Alliances / Genders & Sexualities Alliances, or GSAs for short, are student-run organizations that unite LGBTQIA2+ and allied youth to build community and organize issues impacting them in their schools and communities. GSAs have evolved beyond their traditional role to serve as safe spaces for LGBTQIA2+ youth in middle and high schools and have emerged as vehicles for deep social change related to racial, gender, and educational justice.
A growing body of research confirms that the presence of a GSA has a positive and lasting effect on student health, wellness, and academic performance. It can also protect students from harassment
based on sexual orientation or gender identity and improve school climates for all students in the long term.
PARENTS/GUARDIANS
Inform | Moving Modular Classrooms from MidSun School
Dear parents/guardians,
The Government of Alberta has approved relocating one modular unit from your school to Ian Bazalgette School, which urgently needs additional learning spaces.
CBE requested the relocation of these modular units in the 2023-24 Modular Classroom Program, which was submitted to the provincial government. Relocating modular units from one school to another is a strategy to address the exceptional growth felt across many areas of our city. This move will provide much-needed learning spaces for Ian Bazalgette School and enable many more students to attend school close to home.
We anticipate that the work to move the modulars will begin this summer and be completed by late September. Safety measures will be taken to ensure the safety of students and community members who use the playground or school site while the relocation occurs. This includes enclosing the construction area, scheduling work to avoid disrupting learning and operating within specific hours according to municipal bylaws.
We will update you if there are any changes to the anticipated schedule.
Please contact accomodation@cbe.ab.ca if you have any questions about this announcement.
Thank you,
Calgary Board of Education
