School Engagement Parent/Guardian Survey: School Planning 2025-2026
Our annual parent/guardian engagement survey will be open Friday, March 7, 2025 at 8:00 am. Our survey will be closed on Monday, March 31, 2025. This survey gives parents/guardians an opportunity to provide feedback as we begin to plan for the 2025 - 2026 school year. Topics covered in the survey are the school development plan, budget, and fees. The survey will take ~10 minutes to complete.

Provincial Achievement Tests (PATs) May/June 2025
In May and June of this year, Grade 9 students across the province will participate in the Provincial Achievement Tests (PATs). Results from these tests will provide Alberta Education, school administrators, teachers, parents/guardians, students, and the public with information about what students know and can do in relation to provincial standards at the end of Grade 9. These results can be used to improve learning opportunities for students and inform our School Development Plans for 2024-27

Due to the CUPE strike, our Parent-Teacher Conferences will now be held online instead of in person. Details, including dates and sign-up instructions, will be shared with families later this week.

IPPs - Please sign and return the Parent Signature
IPPs were sent home last week for families to review. If you have not received your child’s IPP, please reach out to your child’s homeroom teacher for assistance. A reminder to please sign and return the Parent Signature page back to the school this week, if there are no questions regarding support of your child.

Labour Action Update - CUPE Strike
For the latest and most accurate information on labour action in the CBE, please CLICK HERE. A few reminders to changes for MidSun School:
- Regular classes continue for all students.
- All students need to exit the building no later than 4:35pm
- Exceptions are volleyball practices and drama rehearsals. These will end by 5:30pm.
- Volleyball games at Schools - Only parents/guardians/family members of participants are able to view games.
A large thank you to staff and students for their care of our building over the past week. We all play a role in keeping our amazing facility clean and safe.
High School Registration and Transition Information
It is that time of year when our Grade 9 students begin registering for their courses at their designated high schools. Please check the links and attached resources for important information about virtual open houses and course registration. More detailed information can also be found on our school's website.

Our Next School Council Meeting is on Tuesday, March 18. Our meeting will be held virtually through Microsoft Teams. The Grade 9 Learning Team will be presenting on all things Grade 9! We will also have an FAQ with Joe Sturgeon - Principal, Centennial High School
All parents are welcome to attend our monthly meetings. This is a wonderful opportunity to collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other parents to make a positive impact on the education and experience of our students.

Reminders From Our Main Office
LOST & FOUND
- We have quite a selection of hoodies, jackets and water bottles that have accumulated in our “lost and found” area at MidSun School. If your child is missing an item, please drop by the school and take a look.
- These items will be on display until Friday March 21 until 2:00 pm.
- We need to empty this area of all unclaimed items before Spring Break.

Outstanding Fees
Please check your student’s MyCBE account to ensure all outstanding fees are paid. A Monthly reminder will be sent to families with outstanding balances for field trips and fees. Partial payments are accepted throughout our school year.

Does your child require an Epipen? For students who require access to medical supplies at school (i.e. epipen), please submit a Student Health Plan as soon as possible to midsun@cbe.ab.ca
Absent or Leaving Early? Please email midsun@cbe.ab.ca to let us know if your child will be away, late, or needs to leave early for any reason.
Home for Lunch? MidSun School is a closed campus and students are not permitted to leave the school grounds without prior parent consent.
If your child lives close enough to the school to go home for lunch, please email midsun@cbe.ab.ca that your child will be leaving for lunch. Students must check out at the office when they leave.
Staying for Lunch? Delivery Food Orders for students such as “Skip the Dishes, Door Dash, etc.” are not permitted at MidSun. Please do not send these orders to the school. Our main office will not accept delivery.
Please note that students need to provide their own utensils at lunch, as the school does not have a budget for this.
