Welcome to the month of March.  IPPs will be sent home today for families to review. If you have questions, please reach out to your child’s homeroom teacher for assistance. Please sign and return the Parent Signature page back to the school on Friday, March 7, if there are no questions regarding support of your child. 

We have included information below for families recognizing Ramadan this month with access to a prayer space during the school day. 

School Engagement Parent/Guardian Survey: School Planning 2025-2026

More information will be sent to parents this week about our annual parent/guardian engagement survey. This survey gives parents/guardians an opportunity to provide feedback as we begin to plan for the 2025-2026 school year.  Topics covered in the survey are the school development plan, budget, and fees.  The survey will take ~10 minutes to complete once the link is sent to families later this week.

Labour Action Update - CUPE Strike

For the latest and most accurate information on labour action in the CBE, please CLICK HERE.  A few reminders to changes for MidSun School:

  • Regular classes continue for all students.
  • All students need to exit the building no later than 4:35pm
  • Exceptions are volleyball practices and drama rehearsals.  These will end by 5:30pm.
  • Volleyball games at Schools - Only parents/guardians/family members of participants are able to view games.

A large thank you to staff and students for their care of our building over the past week.  We all play a role in keeping our amazing facility clean and safe.


High School Registration and Transition Information

It is that time of year when our Grade 9 students begin registering for their courses at their designated high schools. Please check the links and attached resources for important information about virtual open houses and course registration. More detailed information can also be found on our school's website.
 

From School Council 

Our Next School Council Meeting is on March 18 at MidSun School. Our meeting will be held virtually through Microsoft Teams on using this LINK. The Grade 9 Learning Team will be presenting on all things grade 9! We will also have an FAQ with Joe Sturgeon - Principal, Centennial High School

All parents are welcome to attend our monthly meetings. This is a wonderful opportunity to collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other parents to make a positive impact on the education and experience of our students.

MidSun Casino dates are May 15 & 16th at the Deerfoot Inn & Casino

Outstanding Fees

Please check your student’s MyCBE account to ensure all outstanding fees are paid. A Monthly reminder will be sent to families with outstanding balances for field trips and fees.  Partial payments are accepted throughout our school year.

Does your child require an Epipen? For students who require access to medical supplies at school (i.e. epipen), please submit a Student Health Plan​ as soon as possible to midsun@cbe.ab.ca  

Absent or Leaving Early? Please email midsun@cbe.ab.ca  to let us know if your child will be away, late, or needs to leave early for any reason.

Home for Lunch? MidSun School is a closed campus and students are not permitted to leave the school grounds without prior parent consent.
If your child lives close enough to the school to go home for lunch, please email midsun@cbe.ab.ca  that your child will be leaving for lunch. Students must check out at the office when they leave.

Staying for Lunch? Delivery Food Orders for students such as “Skip the Dishes, Door Dash, etc.” are not permitted at MidSun. Please do not send these orders to the school. Our main office will not accept delivery.

Please note that students need to provide their own utensils at lunch, as the school does not have a budget for this.
