Thank You for Supporting Our MidSun Casino!
A heartfelt thank you to all of our families for your support of the MidSun Casino—our biggest fundraiser of the year. We are especially grateful to the dedicated parent volunteers who generously gave their time to help fill the many roles required to make this event a success. Your involvement makes a meaningful difference in our school community!
Grade 9 Farewell – Save the Date!
We are excited to invite families to our Grade 9 Farewell Celebration as we recognize and honour our students' transition to high school!
Date: Tuesday, June 24
Time: 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
Location: MidSun School Gymnasium
Due to limited seating capacity in our gym, we kindly ask that only immediate family members attend.
This special morning will include student reflections, presentations, and a chance to celebrate this important milestone together. More details will be shared in the coming weeks.

Improv Festival
Our MidSun Rays Improv Team has been invited to compete in The Calgary Junior High Improv Festival at Dr. E.P. Scarlett High School on May 20 & 21. Students are asked to be there from 5:30 - 8:00 pm on May 20 and 6:30 - 9:00 pm on May 21.
Mrs. Zima will meet students outside the main door and be picked up by parents at the same location. May 20 will feature a mixed group Improv Showcase at 6:30 pm for families. The Final Showcase (in school teams) is on May 21 beginning at 7:00 pm. Tickets are pay what you can/by donation should families want to be the audience!

Provincial Achievement Tests (PATs) May/June 2025
In May and June of this year, Grade 9 students across the province will participate in the Provincial Achievement Tests (PATs). Results from these tests will provide Alberta Education, school administrators, teachers, parents/guardians, students, and the public with information about what students know and can do in relation to provincial standards at the end of Grade 9. These results can be used to improve learning opportunities for students and inform our School Development Plans for 2024-27

Our Next School Council Meeting is on Tuesday, May 27 at 6:30 pm. Our meeting will be held in our Learning Commons - doors open at 6:15 pm.
- All parents are welcome to attend our monthly meetings. This is a wonderful opportunity to collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other parents to make a positive impact on the education and experience of our students.

Reminders From Our Main Office
Absent or Leaving Early? Please email midsun@cbe.ab.ca to let us know if your child will be away, late, or needs to leave early for any reason.
Staying for Lunch? Delivery Food Orders for students such as “Skip the Dishes, Door Dash, etc.” are not permitted at MidSun. Please do not send these orders to the school. Our main office will not accept delivery.
Please note that students need to provide their own utensils at lunch, as the school does not have a budget for this.
Athletic Teams
If your student is/was part of a MidSun athletic team (soccer, basketball, wrestling, or volleyball) please make sure your fees are paid. At this time, we have a number of unpaid team fees, so please double check your school account. Here is the link: https://sis.cbe.ab.ca/public/

Outstanding Fees
Please check your student’s MyCBE account to ensure all outstanding fees are paid. A Monthly reminder will be sent to families with outstanding balances for field trips and fees. Partial payments are accepted throughout our school year.

Visit the AHS Community Education Service website to register for their free community programs. Topics include managing stress, bullying, peer-pressure, managing anxiety, grief and loss, brain science, addiction, birth control and sexuality, domestic violence.
