National Day of Awareness for MMIWG2S+ - May 5

May 5 is the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, Two Spirit and Gender Diverse people (MMIWG2S+). This day is also known as Red Dress Day. Students and staff can raise awareness and commemorate this day by wearing red to honour the victims and by reading the Final Report of the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls and the 213 Calls for Justice.

Asian History Month 2025

This month invites us to deepen our understanding of Asian Canadian experiences. Together, let’s honour the diversity of Asian communities not only by what we celebrate, but by how we lead — with courage, care, and a commitment to a more inclusive future.

Hats On For Mental Health – May 7

Mental Health Awareness week is happening May 5 – 11. This year’s theme, “Unmasking Mental Health,” invites us to imagine what it would feel like to speak openly about our struggles without fear or shame. Many young people hide their emotions behind a mask to protect themselves from judgment.

Every year Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) dedicates a week in May to raise awareness of Mental Health. This year Mental Health Week will run May 5 - 11, and Hats On! for Mental Health Day will take place on May 7. Students will also participate in a coordinated lesson on understanding mental health and the importance of removing the stigma associated with mental illnesses.
