From Administration

As we move into November, we look forward to several important opportunities to come together as a school community. With Fall Break approaching and Parent-Teacher Conferences scheduled for the end of November, we encourage families to take time to connect with their children about their learning, celebrate their successes, and identify goals for the months ahead. Additional information regarding Parent-Teacher Conferences will be shared in the coming weeks.

Remembrance Day Observance – Families Welcome

MidSun School will be holding our annual Remembrance Day Observance, and we warmly invite parents and family members to join us for the presentation at 10:00 a.m. This is an important opportunity for our school community to come together in reflection, remembrance, and gratitude as we honour those who have served and sacrificed.

Thank You, MidSun Families!

A heartfelt thank you to our MidSun families for your incredible generosity in supporting our Grade 9 Leadership students' donation drive for The Mustard Seed, an organization that supports individuals experiencing poverty and homelessness in our community.

The response has been overwhelming! Your kindness and generosity are a wonderful reflection of the caring community we have at MidSun. We are especially proud of our Grade 9 Leadership students for taking the initiative to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

Henry Wise Wood High School – Information Evenings

For families beginning to plan for the transition to high school, Henry Wise Wood High School has shared the following important dates:

  • Wednesday, November 18: International Baccalaureate (IB) Information Evening, 7:00–8:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, January 28: Grade 9 Open House, 6:00–8:00 p.m.

We encourage our Grade 9 families to attend these events to learn more about the programs, opportunities, and experiences available at Henry Wise Wood High School.

As always, thank you for your continued partnership and support. We are grateful for the many ways our families contribute to the spirit, heart, and legacy of MidSun School.

Fridays Matter – Every School Day Counts!

Did you know that Alberta Education identifies students who miss 10% or more of the school year (approximately 18 days) as chronically absent?

A student who misses every Friday misses approximately 20% of their school days over the year — twice the percentage associated with chronic absenteeism when measured by school days.

Although Fridays are shorter at MidSun, they remain important instructional days. Regular attendance helps students stay connected to their learning, their teachers, and their peers.

Every Friday matters. Every school day counts!

MidSun School Council

Our Next School Council Meeting is on Tuesday, November 24 at 6:00 pm. Our meeting will be held in our Learning Commons - doors open at 5:45 pm.

All parents are welcome to attend our monthly meetings. This is a wonderful opportunity to collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other parents to make a positive impact on the education and experience of our students.

Please see a copy of the minutes from our 2026-27 meetings HERE for your review.

Our School Council is an important way for parents and guardians to be involved in the MidSun community, share their perspectives, and support our students and school
