Parent Teacher Conferences - November 27 & November 28

Conferences are an important opportunity to celebrate strengths, discuss growth, and plan next steps together. We encourage families to review PowerSchool and Google Classroom with their child before attending—and to bring students to the meeting whenever possible.

We will also be collecting items for our Food Bank Drive, gift cards donations for our Adopt-A-Family and IPP signature forms can be dropped off in our Main Office.

Our upcoming Parent-Teacher Conferences will look a little different this year for our Grade 9 students, while our Grade 7 and 8 families will continue with our traditional appointment-based format.

Grade 9 Conferences

To best support our students across multiple learning groups, Grade 9 conferences will follow a drop-in format in the Learning Commons on Thursday, November 27 from 5:00–8:00 PM

To help manage the flow of families, we ask that you attend during the following times:

  • Last names A–L: 5:00–6:20 PM
  • Last names M–Z: 6:40–8:00 PM

Each session will be approximately 10 minutes in length

On Friday, November 28: the morning (8:00 AM–10:00 AM) will be reserved for scheduled meetings with families of students who have identified areas of support. Teachers will contact these families directly by email. From 10:00–2:00 PM, parents are again welcome to drop in to meet with Grade 9 teachers.

Grades 7 and 8 Conferences

Families of students in Grades 7 and 8 will continue with our traditional appointment-based conferences. The Conference Manager will open at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 22, and close at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 27

To book conferences, please log into your MyCBE account and follow these steps:

  1. Click on “Book and Manage Meeting Times.”
  2. Select “Book a Conference.”

Each conference is 10 minutes in length. After booking, your conference details will appear in your MyCBE account—we recommend adding these to your calendar to keep track of times and meeting links (if applicable).

Blue Pod (ACCESS, TASC, ALP) Conferences

Blue Pod families will book conferences directly with their child’s teacher.
During these 30-minute meetings, teachers will:

  • Review your child’s IPP
  • Share progress to date
  • Discuss next steps and supports

Conferences may be held in person or online, based on family preference.

ACCESS, TASC, and ALP teachers will reach out to families this week to schedule appointments during:

  • Thursday, November 27 – 5:00–8:00 PM
  • Friday, November 28 – 9:00 AM–2:00 PM

Complementary Courses – Term 2 & 3

We are currently working with students who are not yet registered in their Term 2 complementary courses, which begin on December 8, as well as their Term 3 courses, which start after spring break.

Most classes are at capacity, and while we do our best to place students in their top choices, this is not always possible.

We appreciate your understanding and support as we complete the registration process.

MidSun Annual Adopt-A-Family Holiday Support

As we move into the holiday season, MidSun is once again supporting families in our community through our Adopt-A-Family Program. If your family is interested in contributing, we will have a donation box located in the main office during Parent-Teacher Conferences on November 27 & 28.

We are collecting gift cards of any denomination, which allow us to provide flexible and meaningful support directly to families.

Suggested gift card options include:

  • Walmart
  • Superstore
  • Sobeys
  • Co-op
  • Shoppers Drug Mart
  • Dollarama
  • Cineplex
  • Tim Hortons / Starbucks

Every contribution—big or small—makes a difference and is deeply appreciated. Thank you for helping us support our MidSun community this season.

Thank you for your support in this Annual Charity Event!

Stay tuned in the next few weeks for updates for our Adopt-A-Family Program!

Lost & Found

Our Lost & Found is overflowing with hoodies, sweaters and jackets that have been left behind since September. These items will be displayed during our parent teacher conferences for parents to take a look through.

Any “lost” items not claimed by the end of November will be donated to charity.
Please stop by the school before then if your child has any clothing needing to be claimed.

Drama Production:

Mrs. Zima is announcing our annual school musical during Drama club on November 27. Drama club is every Day 1 at lunch. Bring your lunch and play some drama games.
Students interested in participating in the school musical must attend the audition December 11, after school from 4:00 - 5:30 pm.

Rehearsals for the school musical are Mondays and Wednesdays after school 4:00-5:30 pm starting in January and running until the production in April.

Winter Carnival 2025

The Leadership classes at MidSun School have been preparing for our traditional Winter Carnival. This is a school wide event that will be focusing on raising money for families in need this holiday season (Adopt-A-Family). This will be our only carnival this year as we will not be able to have one in June.  The gymnasium will be transformed into a fun-filled day of games and activities for students to play.

Students will need to either purchase a wristband for $10 or some individual tickets to have a chance to win prizes. A wristband allows for unlimited play. In past carnivals some of the amazing prizes were: Air Pods; a  Bluetooth speaker; Chinook Mall gift card; Amazon gift card, etc. Prizes will be similar this year and announced once they have been purchased.  There will also be a concession with lots of snacks and treats for purchase.
