From Administration

Welcome Back!

It’s been wonderful to see our students back in our hallways this week. We recognize that this has been an unprecedented time for everyone in our school community — students, staff, and families alike. As we return from the recent labour strike, our approach this week is guided by three key priorities: Reconnect, Reassure, and Refocus.

This return came together quickly, and we are intentionally taking our time to ensure that safety, clarity, and care remain at the centre of all we do. These priorities may look a little different across our staff teams, but our shared goal is the same: to support every member of our community in finding their footing again and re-establishing routines at a thoughtful pace.

As we rebuild together, we’re emphasizing community and wellbeing as the foundation for academic recovery. We also want to take a moment to acknowledge and celebrate our incredible support staff, who continued with professional learning during this time and whose contributions remain essential to our school’s success.

A few updates as we head toward Fall Break (November 10–12):

  • Information about our basketball and wrestling seasons will be shared early this week. For now, practices remain on hold.
  • We are reviewing school fees, and updated details will be communicated to families prior to the break.

Please take a moment to review our drop-off and pick-up protocols below, and share these with any other family members who assist with transportation.

Thank you for your continued understanding, flexibility, and support as we navigate this unique transition together. Our focus remains on connection, care, and community.

Warmly,

Charlene Kushniruk and Jenn Grant

Parking and Bus Loop
As you are getting into your new routine for picking up and dropping off your students at school, please remain mindful of traffic signs, speed limits and the many students walking to school. Sharing our space with Fish Creek School means there are twice the parents and students trying to safely navigate parking lots and streets.

Reminder:
The pull through lane is for our small yellow buses, and Southbound Sunmills Drive and Eastbound Suncastle Drive are bus zones for our big yellow buses so please arrange to meet your students on one of the other side streets around our school. For the safety of our students, parents are asked to use one of the other side streets around our school. We thank you for your cooperation and help to ensure the front of our school is safe for all.

Neighborhood Courtesy
A reminder to all parents to be courteous with regards to our community neighbours. Please be mindful of driveways, cul-de-sacs, sidewalks and congestion during our busy times. Bylaw officers regularly patrol the area and complaints will be directed to their office by community members.

Jacket Racket

MidSun will be collecting gently used jackets, mittens, gloves and touques this month to be donated to families in Calgary that need warm winter clothing!

Deadline to have donations brought to the school: Friday, November 14.

Please, no footwear is accepted by the Jacket Racket group. Only items listed above that are not ripped, torn and zippers are in working condition.

Thank you for helping to keep families warm this winter in Calgary!
