From Administration

Halloween at MidSun – Friday, October 30! 👻

We look forward to celebrating Halloween with our Grade 7–9 students on Friday, October 30! Students are welcome to wear costumes to school and enjoy some Halloween spirit while participating in their regular classes and learning activities.

Halloween Costume Guidelines

We encourage students to have fun, be creative, and celebrate while ensuring costumes are respectful, inclusive, and appropriate for a school setting. Families are asked to review the following expectations:

  • No costume props, including toy weapons, swords, brooms, or similar accessories.
  • Avoid excessive gore, graphic makeup, or frightening imagery.
  • Costumes must provide appropriate coverage, including undergarments.
  • Costumes must not include offensive or suggestive messaging or references to drugs, alcohol, or tobacco.
  • Culture is not a costume. Costumes that reinforce cultural stereotypes or disrespect cultural identities are not appropriate.

Students wearing costumes that do not meet school expectations may be asked to change or remove them, and families may be contacted.

Thank you for helping us ensure a safe, respectful, and inclusive Halloween celebration for all students.

Happy Halloween, MidSun! 🎃

Helping Our Community: Grade 9 Leadership Donation Drive

Our Grade 9 Leadership students are organizing a donation drive in support of The Mustard Seed, helping individuals experiencing poverty or homelessness in our community. Students will assemble donated essentials into tote bags to share with those in need.

We are collecting:

  • Personal hygiene items: Toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, nail clippers
  • New socks and underwear
  • Winter essentials: Gloves and mittens
  • Non-perishable snacks: Granola bars and other easy-to-carry snacks

Donation Deadline: Friday, October 30

Every contribution makes a difference! Thank you for supporting our students as they put kindness, compassion, and community spirit into action.

Dressing for Fall Weather
With temperatures changing, we remind families to ensure students are dressed appropriately for outdoor activities, including Physical Education classes. Layers, jackets, and appropriate footwear will help students stay comfortable and active as we move into the cooler months.

Fridays Matter – Every School Day Counts!

While Fridays may be shorter at MidSun, they are just as important to student learning and success! Fridays provide valuable opportunities for students to strengthen their skills, participate in classroom learning, and stay connected with their peers and teachers.

Consistent attendance, including Fridays, helps students maintain positive routines, stay on track academically, and develop responsibility and independence.

Every day matters, and every Friday counts! Thank you to our MidSun families for reinforcing the importance of regular attendance and helping students finish each week strong!
