Please ensure your student is securely locking their bike/skateboard/scooter at the school.
Fun Lunch (Healthy Hunger) will be returning to MidSun this year! We’ll share more details later this month once dates are confirmed and vendors are selected.
Yearbook Update
MidSun Yearbooks have been distributed to students who ordered them. Copies for our former Grade 9 students will be delivered directly to Centennial High School. We can’t wait for you to enjoy the memories and highlights captured from last year!
Online Forms!
Please remember to read the Welcome Package of information that was sent home on the first day of school. Forms need to be signed and returned to your child’s homeroom teacher as soon as possible. Some of our school forms are now completed online through your MyCBE account.
Please Complete Online Forms by Sept. 15
Each year, schools have a variety of forms that parents / legal guardians / independent students are required to complete or review and update, some of which are paper and others online. For families who have not yet completed these annual forms, please submit the Demographic Verification and Annual Authorization forms in SchoolEngage for your child by Monday, Sept. 15. These forms are required every year for Alberta Education to confirm student funding. We recognize certain families have already completed Demographic Verification and Annual Authorization forms for their children for the 2025-26 school year and we thank you for taking time to submit them.
Details of the online forms found in SchoolEngage include:
- Demographic Verification - 2025-26 – This required form is an Alberta Education requirement as proof of Registration for funding purposes and includes your child’s personal information as well as parent / legal guardian contact information.
- Citizenship Information Update - 2025-26 – This form becomes available if you change your child’s citizenship information on the Demographic Verification form.
- Annual Authorization - 2025-26 – Combines the following forms:
- School District Use of Personal Information - explains how CBE uses personal information in providing education services.
- Consent for CBE Use of Student Information – provides an option to grant / not grant consent for additional use of student information by school/district and third parties.
- Consent for Use of Student Information by News Media and Outside Groups (Third Party) - provides an option to grant / not grant consent for additional use of student information by outside groups and third parties
SchoolEngage is one of the applications found in your MyCBE account. This is the same account that you use to pay fees, view academic information, book school conferences, register to volunteer etc.
If you do not have a MyCBE account, on the MyCBE page click on Create a MyCBE Account. For online help, refer to MyCBE - Creating an Account (includes instructions and a video).
To complete these forms:
- sign in to your MyCBE account
- click on the SchoolEngage icon
- select the form
- complete or review and update the form
- click on Submit to send the form electronically to the school
- repeat steps 3-5 for each form
If you have any questions, please contact your child’s school. Thank you to everyone for taking time to complete and submit annual forms each year.
Subscribe to School Messages
To ensure you receive important emails from your child’s school and the CBE, you must subscribe to the service. If your contact information has changed, you need to update your information with your child’s school and subscribe to your new email and phone number.
If your child is new to the CBE or if you have recently changed your phone number, you should receive a text (SMS) message from 978338 asking if you would like to receive Calgary Board of Education alerts. This message is safe and sent for your protection.
Helpful Reminders

- Does your child require an Epipen? For students who require access to medical supplies at school (i.e. epipen), please submit a Student Health Plan as soon as possible to midsun@cbe.ab.ca
From School Council
All MidSun parents and guardians are invited to attend our first meeting on Tuesday, September 23rd at 6:00 pm
The 6:00 pm Special Meeting will be followed immediately by our Annual General Meeting (AGM) and regular monthly School Council Meeting.
Your participation matters — approving bylaws ensures our Council can run effectively and transparently this year.
We hope you will mark your calendars and join us!
Reminders From Our Main Office
- Absent or Leaving Early? Please email midsun@cbe.ab.ca to let us know if your child will be away, late, or needs to leave early for any reason.
- Home for lunch? MidSun School is a closed campus and students are not permitted to leave the school grounds without parent consent. If your child lives close enough to the school to go home for lunch please email midsun@cbe.ab.ca that your child will be leaving daily for lunch. Students must check out at the office when they leave.
- Staying for Lunch? Delivery Food Orders for students such as “Skip the Dishes, Door Dash, etc.” are not permitted at MidSun. Please do not send these orders to the school. Our main office will not accept delivery.
Please note that students need to provide their own utensils at lunch.
Physical Education
Our PE units are in full swing, and we are getting outside as much as we can to take advantage of the beautiful weather. Please remind your students to bring their lace up running shoes and a water bottle to class. Grade 7 students will rotate between ultimate frisbee, flag football, soccer and basketball. Grade 8 and 9 students have module choice that includes the units the grade 7's participate in as well as a walking unit, lacrosse, kickball, and cricketball. Please reach out if you have any questions to Jen Purslow at jmpurslow@cbe.ab.ca.

Parking and Bus Loop
As you are getting into your new routine for picking up and dropping off your students at school, please remain mindful of traffic signs, speed limits and the many students walking to school. Sharing our space with Fish Creek School means there are twice the parents and students trying to safely navigate parking lots and streets.
Reminder:
The pull through lane is for our small yellow buses, and Southbound Sunmills Drive and Eastbound Suncastle Drive are bus zones for our big yellow buses so please arrange to meet your students on one of the other side streets around our school. For the safety of our students, parents are asked to use one of the other side streets around our school. We thank you for your cooperation and help to ensure the front of our school is safe for all.
Neighborhood Courtesy
A reminder to all parents to be courteous with regards to our community neighbours. Please be mindful of driveways, cul-de-sacs, sidewalks and congestion during our busy times. Bylaw officers regularly patrol the area and complaints will be directed to their office by community members.
