Dear Parents/Guardians,

As winter approaches, we want to remind everyone of a few important safety measures. Even with the colder weather, parents are not permitted to drive into the school parking lot to drop off students. We kindly ask that you prioritize safety over convenience and follow the designated drop-off procedures to ensure the safety of all our students.

Additionally, please remind your children to dress appropriately for the colder temperatures. Hats, gloves, scarves, and warm jackets are essential to keep them comfortable and safe during the winter months.

Thank you for your cooperation and commitment to safety.

Our next School Council Meeting is on Tuesday, October 22 at 6:30- 8:00 pm in Learning Commons. All parents are welcome to attend our monthly meetings.

Demographic Forms are now due. If you have NOT yet completed your child’s demographic forms for 24-25 - Please login to your MyCBE account and complete the forms Online.  This is very important for our office to have the most accurate information that is up to date.  We have just over 500 student demographic forms that have been completed - we still require 150 more forms to be updated by parents.

Leadership Conference - October 24

Ms. Amirault will be taking 26 grade 8 & 9 Leadership students to the Horizon's Leadership Conference on October 24. The conference is being hosted by Centennial High School and will run from 9:00 am - 2:00 pm. Ms. Amirault is looking for one parent volunteer to attend with her and supervise this field trip.

Student Health Forms

If your child has any health concerns or for students who require access to medical supplies (i.e. Epipen, medication) you will need to complete the Student Health Plan and send it to the office along with any medication kept at school. Find the form here: Student Health Plan​

Take Our Kids to Work Day

Take Our Kids to Work Day is Wednesday. Nov. 6, 2024. It involves students in Grade 9 spending the day in the workplace of a parent, relative, friend or volunteer host. This is not a CBE event. If parents choose to take their student out of school to participate in this day, please report your child’s absence by email to midsunat cbe.ab.ca. 

Health & Well-Being Parent Session at McKenzie Highlands School  

Parents/Guardians are invited on Wednesday, November 6, at 6:30pm for a presentation and discussion around anxiety and youth.  Please access Eventbrite to register.   Pre-registration is encouraged to assist with planning, but walk-ins are welcome as well.  This is an important topic as we navigate a post-pandemic social media landscape. Culinary Club
A reminder to all students who have signed up for Culinary Club that have not had Foods with Ms Luelo, you have your orientation session on Monday October 21 at 4pm – 5pm. This is a mandatory meeting if you are going to be participating in the club. See you afterschool on Monday October 21st. 

Drama Games Club
Not in Drama this semester? Love Drama games?
Join Drama Games Club every Day 1 for all of lunch in the Drama room.

Spelling Bee Club
For those who want to improve their literacy skills by becoming a Wordsmith!
The Spelling Bee Club happens every Day 6 with Ms. Lawson in Room 12 from 1:30 to 1:50 pm during lunch!!!

Remembrance Day Dancers
Dancers for this performance meet every Day 4 and 5 for all of lunch in the Drama room.

Learning Commons

Our Learning Commons Supervisor is available Mondays and Wednesdays all day to help answer any questions, find you that perfect book, or just have a chat. This is also an eating space for our students at lunchtime. Please push your chair in and wipe up any spills that may have occurred. Thank you to those students who help tidy the whole space.

Watch for a New Contest to give our Learning Commons a name! Please feel free to check out books that appear on the “New” shelf. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks a bunch – Mrs. B

If your student is injured or not feeling well but is still attending school, can you please send a short note or e-mail to their PE teacher.  Let us know what happened, what they can and cannot participate in and how long they are unable to participate.

All proceeds go towards supporting the school and students. Please order through www.healthyhunger.ca
Place orders by the Friday before the scheduled day.  Order several days at once to avoid multiple administration fees.

Does your child require an Epipen? For students who require access to medical supplies (i.e. epipen) and these supplies, please submit a Student Health Plan​ as soon as possible to midsunat cbe.ab.ca 

Absent or Leaving Early? Please email midsun@cbe.ab.ca  to let us know if your child will be away, late, or needs to leave early for any reason.

Staying for Lunch? Delivery Food Orders for students such as “Skip the Dishes, Door Dash, etc.” are not permitted at MidSun. Please do not send these orders to the school. Our main office will not accept delivery.

 Please note that students need to provide their own utensils at lunch, as the school does not have a budget for this.

Home for Lunch?

MidSun School is a closed campus and students are not permitted to leave the school grounds without parent consent. If your child lives close enough to the school to go home for lunch please email midsunat cbe.ab.ca that your child will be leaving daily for lunch. Students must check out at the office when they leave.
